Detailed Itinerary of the 7-Day Tour from Tangier to the Sahara:

Day 1 – Pick-up in Tangier – Volubilis – Moulay Idriss – Fez

You will be met by our guide at the scheduled time at the port/airport of Tangier and begin your journey to Fez, the first of the imperial cities and home to one of the oldest universities in the world. Along the way, we will visit the remarkably well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis. We will also enjoy a panoramic view of Moulay Idriss, the holy city, and in the afternoon we will arrive in Fez to enjoy the sunset while exploring the walls and gates of its medina or simply having a welcome tea at the riad. Overnight stay in a riad.

Day 2 – Visit to Fez – Ifrane – Middle Atlas Mountains – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Merzouga

After a delicious breakfast at the riad, we began our guided tour of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its labyrinthine alleyways, structured by guilds of potters, dyers, and other artisans, and the bustle of its people will transport us centuries back in time. We'll notice that it's a medieval city and that time seems to have stood still on the Magana Bounania clock… 1,200 years after its construction. A marvel! Not far from Fez, we'll pass through Ifrane, "The Switzerland of Morocco," before reaching the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where we'll stop to visit the families of monkeys that live there. The Atlas Mountains are upon us. A surprising change of scenery awaits us: we're entering the Great South. The land becomes arid, with spectacular geological formations and deep valleys, like the Ziz Valley, enormous green patches in the middle of the desert. We'll begin to see mud-brick architecture, palm trees, and some distant kasbahs… we're at the gateway to the desert. In the afternoon, we'll arrive in Merzouga. Free time. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad facing the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Day 3 – Merzouga Dunes – Khamlia – Rissani – Camel trek and overnight stay in Nomadic Berber tents

In the morning, after breakfast, we'll visit the slave village of Khamlia, where we'll enjoy a Gnawa music concert and a delicious mint tea. Afterward, we'll depart for Rissani, the former capital, where we'll visit its market, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, and sample a tasty Berber pizza. In the afternoon, we'll exchange our car for camels to venture into the heart of the dunes and witness an unforgettable sunset. We'll arrive by camel at the camp where we'll stay in traditional Berber tents. Dinner and overnight stay in the heart of the desert, under a spectacular blanket of stars.

Day 4 – Merzouga Dunes – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

In the morning, we'll return to the riad by camel for breakfast and a shower. We'll then continue our journey to Erfoud, where you'll have the opportunity to visit a fossilized marble factory, before proceeding to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Later, we'll arrive at one of the highlights of southern France: the Todra Gorge. The Todra River has carved a stunning canyon with towering vertical walls, a paradise for climbers and a truly unique place. A half-hour walk is recommended to fully appreciate the gorge's beauty. In the afternoon, we'll continue to the Dadès Valley, also known as the Valley of Figs. Passing through Boumalne Dadès, we'll stop at the "Monkey's Paws" rock formations. Dinner and overnight stay in the Dadès Gorge.

Day 5 – Dades Gorges – Valley of the Riversbears – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, we'll enjoy one of the best views of the Dadès Valley from one of the most strategic vantage points in the mountains. From there, we can admire the numerous kasbahs and their picturesque charm. After several stops to enjoy the route, including the Valley of Roses and the vast Skoura palm grove, we'll arrive in Ouarzazate and visit the Film Studios, if you're interested. Afterward, we'll depart for the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, where films such as Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, The Jewel of the Nile, and Gladiator were filmed. Finally, we'll leave for Marrakech, crossing the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass with stops for photos. Here, we'll leave behind the lunar landscape and discover the predominant greens, ochres, and other colors. Arrival in Marrakech. Accommodation in a riad.

Day 6 – Marrakech

After breakfast, we'll enjoy a guided tour to discover the many facets of Marrakech, with a stroll through the labyrinth of narrow streets in the Medina, exploring its famous souks, and visiting some of Marrakech's most beautiful palaces and monuments. Overnight stay in a riad in Marrakech.

Day 7 – Marrakech – Tangier

After breakfast, we will depart for Tangier. We will arrive in the afternoon. Transfer to the port or airport for your return flight. End of our services. Have a safe trip.

The organization was absolutely perfect, the hotels were generally very good, and a special mention goes to the Nomad Desert Hotel, which was truly beautiful, as was the Berber tent camp. The breakfast and dinner, which were included in the price, were very good, and thanks to the excellent advice and attention of our guide, Mohamed, the lunch, which wasn't included, was also perfect. Mohamed deserves a special mention in my comments, as he made the trip so much fun and we felt like family. He's a very endearing person and incredibly knowledgeable about his region, so his explanations were fascinating. Thanks to him, we were able to better understand the way of life of the desert people. Everything we saw was breathtaking. Although the journey to the desert from Marrakech is quite long and includes stretches of winding mountain road (the road is very good and new, so don't worry), Mohamed made it seem much shorter. He's a fantastic driver. As he says, if you learn to drive on the dunes, everything else is easy. I encourage anyone wanting to visit the Moroccan desert to book with them. It was a unique and unforgettable experience with Mohammed, our guide, who was always friendly, always providing timely, concise, and clear explanations. He answered any questions we had and was always willing to help. He is also an excellent driver. The hotels we chose were very good. The desert tents were lovely and charming, with private bathrooms and showers. Our hotel in the desert was the Nomad Palace, and it was wonderful in terms of location, food, staff, entertainment, and accommodations. The meals were also excellent. It's clear this company has experience because everything is well-organized and planned. As constructive criticism, I would suggest providing a speaker or microphone for the guide/driver in the van because those sitting in the back row can't hear the guide's explanations due to being too far away.  Verified From Fez to the desertWe decided to take a trip with friends to explore Morocco. We took the advice of Ismael, our guide, who planned the trip according to our preferences. We started in Marrakech, where he gave us a guided tour of the city, and afterwards we had free time which we used to go to the souk and try different food stalls. The next day we headed towards the desert, stopping along the way to visit Ouarzazate, Dades, the Todra Gorge, and more. In the desert, we did several activities: quad biking, visiting markets, watching sunsets, visiting nomads—in short, we loved it. We plan to repeat the experience to continue exploring Morocco, and we'll definitely do it again with ViajesDesierto, an experience we highly recommend to everyone.

AMy trip with ViajesDesierto.com was, honestly, one of the best experiences I've ever had.  Verified Meeting Ahmed has been the best part of the trip!We met Ahmed in Chefchaouen, at his shop in the medina. A wonderful place filled with objects that transport you to countless places and stories. But the best part, without a doubt, was meeting Ahmed and sitting down to chat with him. What a fantastic person! I'm already looking forward to going back and taking a trip to the desert, since we didn't have the chance this time. He went at our pace, catered to our requests for food, and took us wherever we wanted, without any rush. The experience was very good.
